The Bowman~Penelec~Megahan Art Galleries at Allegheny College present exhibitions and other visual arts programming for diverse audiences including students,educators, emerging and established artists, and other residents of northwestern Pennsylvania. Sponsored by the College’s Art Department, gallery programs are designed to promote active learning and interdisciplinary exploration of the visual arts and culture.
All events in the Bowman~Penelec~Megahan Art Galleries are free and open to the public. The art galleries are wheelchair accessible. Art galleries are located in Doane Hall of Art (a wing of the Campus Center) east of North Main St., between College and John Streets.
Exhibitions and other programs are supported in part by Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), the regional arts funding partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency. State government funding comes through an annual appropriation by Pennsylvania’s General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Arts Council of Erie.
