About Us
Art & Soul, located inside the Old Bay Marketplace on Bay Street in Historic Beaufort, SC, features the works of fifty primarily local and regional artists. A few other artists outside the area but with strong ties to Beaufort add to the eclectic and colorful mix.
The gallery, established in 1999 by Reggie Przybysz, displays original paintings, photographs, handmade glass beadworks, pottery, jewelry, wood and soft sculpture and other works by established artists.
Inspired by the colors of the Lowcountry, Kelly Collins Davidson creates unique hand-made lampwork glass beads using Murano glass. Her jewelry ranges from classic to total whimsy. Davidson also creates candlesticks and wine stoppers using round shaped as well as colorful tropical fish beads.
The gallery features several painters. A. J. Finley-McRee has worked in all media, most recently concentrating on oils and acrylic abstracted landscapes and pure emotionally charged abstracts. Mary Grayson Segars' oils depict strong interest in light and shadow in her landscapes and her strong interest in figures. For beautiful serene watercolor scenes, depicting the local creeks, rivers and barrier islands, Charles Hudson is the artist to look for. Mary Ann Riley paints acrylics in her loose impressionistic style in vibrant colors capturing our landscapes, views of Beaufort from the water, and her popular Red Dog series. Marlies Williams works in various media and images from portraits to abstracts. Her acclaimed series, the textural, "In the Marsh" series of paintings convey an emotional response to marsh grasses in colors that reflect different seasons and times of day.
