For those who have an interest in art but are new to the art world, the RC Gorman/Nizhoni Gallery is the ideal place to feed the fires of artistic appreciation and glean the basics that turn novices into serious collectors. Located in Albuqeuerque’s Historic Old Town, this welcoming gallery is focused on helping its clients find the ideal artwork to personalize and add warmth to their homes and lives. The RC Gorman/Nizhoni Gallery staff is further dedicated to continuing the legacy of renowned artist RC Gorman, who was once hailed by the New York Times as the ‘Picasso of American Indian Art.’ Born in July 1931 in Chinle, Gorman, who was son to the famed Navajo painter and WWII Code talker Carl Gorman, followed in his father’s artistic footsteps and went on to carve new pathways for Native American artists who were fighting against unrealistic artistic definitions and native-art stereotypes. In conjunction with the new and classic works of RC Gorman, the Nizhoni Gallery also features other acclaimed artists such as Martha Pettigrew, Robert Rivera, Amado Pena and Bev Doolittle along with Guilloume, Lawrence Vargas and Howard Terpning. Luxuriate in the vivid colors and stirring, awe-inspiring works that represent Southwest and Native American imagery at its finest with a tour of the RC Gorman/Nizhoni Gallery.
