About Us:

The North Carolina Crafts Gallery is an independently owned retail gallery that features a wide selection of pottery and gifts handcrafted exclusively by North Carolina artists and craftsmen. We offer gifts for every occasion.

The gallery is located in a two-story, red brick building on the corner of Weaver St. and West Main St. in Carrboro, NC. Several hundred artists from across the state showcase their wares. You’ll find contemporary and traditional pottery, blown glass, wood turnings, jewelry, metalwork, toys, folk art, garden art, kaleidoscopes, baskets, fiber art and more.

The Crafts Gallery typically hosts two shows per month. Shows begin the first day of every month and give the featured artist the opportunity to showcase an entire body of work. Customers are often able to meet the featured artists during the Chapel Hill/Carrboro 2nd Friday Art Walks.

The NC Crafts Gallery was established in 1989 by Sherri Ontjes of Carrboro, NC. In July of 2004 the NC Crafts Gallery was purchased by Sara Latta Gress. Originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Sara moved to Chapel Hill in 1999 and began working at the University of North Carolina. Sara also took a part time job at the NC Crafts Gallery and what began as a fun weekend job turned into a passion for pottery, art and craft.

Sara has a degree in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, PA. She hopes that her background in business and public relations, as well as her love for North Carolina craft will help her continue to provide her customers with quality work from the state’s finest craftsmen, superior customer service, and a pleasant shopping experience.
