Mission

Distillation: The evaporation and subsequent collection of a liquid by condensation as a means of purification.

Distillate: A purified form or a fraction of an original liquid; an essence of something.

The Distillery is a contemporary gallery and community artspace dedicated to producing curated shows, arts programming, and installations by artists of all stripes. 

It doesn't matter what your resume says. It doesn't matter where you've shown before. Submit your work and we'll contact you if our artist board thinks it'd be a good fit for one of our exhibitions.

Located in a diverse neighborhood on the edge of the Palisade Cliffs, the Distillery is founded on the belief that it's possible to provide professional showing opportunities for artists of all career stages while maintaining high-quality content and engaging the community in artistic dialogue.

The Distillery Gallery & Artspace was founded to fulfill three basic needs in the Jersey City artist community:

The need for a secure, professional space for art exhibitions that promotes and brokers sales for local and regional artists.

The need for thoughtful and innovatively curated shows that encourages community dialogue and includes a wide range of artists from all disciplines.

The need to galvanize the artistic and local communities through public programs, educational outreach, and discussions of creative processes and key arts business issues.
