About Us:

We welcome all art lovers to visit our peaceful, uplifting gallery environment and enjoy paintings, sculptures, ceramics and tapestries by some of the finest artists in North Carolina and the Southeast at mid-career, many nationally and internationally renowned.

Founded in 1991, Jane Shuping Tyndall opened the Tyndall Galleries at Brightleaf Square, first of the historic tobacco warehouses to be developed in downtown Durham, North Carolina. In 2002 she relocated the galleries to a new contemporary award-winning space at University Mall in Chapel Hill designed by architect Philip Szostak. There is a unique, eclectic mix of artistic styles and subject matter here to discover. The art is installed in a spare, museum manner which allows each work to be seen and appreciated on its own in a space with quiet ambience.

The staff at the Tyndall Galleries is committed to creating a stimulating and enjoyable art experience for every visitor who walks through our doors. We are here to foster an appreciation for the works of art represented by our extraordinary artists and to provide the expertise to advise both new and seasoned collectors.
